Let the countdown begin! We are only 3 weeks away until we all meet in Tampa to embark Holland America's ms Veendam for the caribbean cruise, mission trip and spiritual retreat we have been planning! Several newsletters filled with important information will be sent out in the next couple weeks so keep a look out for them. There are a few items on the list so please read this carefully.

Last year we brought gifts to the children at the orphanages in shoeboxes, wrapped with festive holiday wrapping paper, donated by various churches and individuals... it was hit! However, it did not go over very well with one of the ports and the officials unwrapped many shoeboxes to inspect the contents. We still want to bring gifts over for the children so we are asking each person to bring one or two bags of goodies and marked for a boy or girl. Here's a list of items to include in the bags along with ideas of what kind of bags to use instead of the shoeboxes. You may want to check your local discount stores such as Dollar Store, $.99 Only Store, Big Lots, etc.

Have you booked your flight to/from Tampa? If not, book NOW! Give yourself enough travel time to/from the cruise terminal. Remember, the ship will leave promptly as scheduled and will not wait for anyone. Holland America does not have a baggage limit but some airlines do. As of recent, some airlines are charging for checked bags. Prepare to pay if applicable.
Travel insurance is definitely a good purchase and affordable. Check out InsureMyTrip.com, a travel insurance comparison site where you can compare policies and get information with leading companies. Most cover the basic following items: trip cancellation & interruption, medical expense & transportation, lost/stolen baggage, etc. If you are in doubt, at least read the FAQs before ruling it out.
We would like to thank Advent Source for sponsoring a on-ship social to be held the first evening of the cruise on the Lido Aft Area. Keep posted for more info.
